PUPPET ARTISAN for Winston, Silvanus and Nessy
HEAD DESIGNER AND PROJECT LEADER for Nessy: Headed design team of five that then led group of twenty in final construction.
Collaborated in yearlong program with students from Art, Drama, and Architecture to research, design and fabricate five giant creature puppets that were showcased in a festival on April 20, 2013. The program was named in honor of Stan Winston, a University of Virginia alumnus and renowned film special effects designer. Matt Winston, the founder of “The Stan Winston School of Character Arts” (SWSCA), brought notable Hollywood special effects artists to the university to work hands-on with students in several workshops. Notable visiting artists include: Shannon Shea, Richard Landon, William Bryan, Ted Haines, Shane Mann and videographer John Ales.
